Part 38
Since I've met Eric, not Warden but Eric, I've had a lot of questions but never asked. Today most of my questions were answered. Remember when he stated he wasn't always a good boy? Well, this is what he meant by that; he works for the CIA whenever they need him. Him being a Warden is just a cover up for family and friends. Yeah, go figure. So, of course I have questions like, why do we have to run? Why can't he just call in a favor for our records to be cleared and stay here in the US? Instead of me waiting for us to be alone, I figured I would get one hundred percent of the truth for my questions, if I asked now. I'll wait until we're alone to ask the rest. I interjected while Anthony was sharing what cases to execute and when I say execute, I mean it. Anyway, I asked Eric if he's an employee of the CIA why are we running? Eric stood to his feet and started clapping, all of the guys followed his lead. I had no clue how to react, so I sat there giving Eric the look of death. I started to smile because deep down inside, I wanted to slap the black off of him.
All of a sudden the projection screen on the back wall came on. The insignia was that of the C.I.A. A Caucasian older gentleman came on the screen and was clapping as well. When he stopped and sat down, everyone else did as well. He states, "Rhonda Jessica White, you are currently 27 years of age, African American and Puerto Rican, no children, and one sibiling. Your father was murdered by your aunt that you grew up thinking was your mother, who also turned the shotgun on herself. Your mother was murdered in her cell this morning, I'm sorry for your loss but she was a casualty of war. You murdered two people and saved at least a dozen or more young ladies from human sex traffickers. Then when you got to our prison, you were plotting to escape, murdered one Officer that was also a C.I.A operative. You left no evidence and no leads to whom may have killed him. When questioned by the man you're in love with, you didn't break. All of this was a test Ms. White and you passed so far with flying colors." My mind was going 200 miles per hour at this point. So everything, all this way a fucking lie Eric? I couldn't hold in my anger, my frustration. It's not like me to use profanity but my heart was breaking and I needed answers, and I needed them quick. "On the contrary Ms. White, Mr. Boyds is very much in love with you. So much so, that he is willing to walk away from our partnership and risk being a target. So, if you decline to accept this offer, you will still have full immunity, but you both will run the risk of being a target." I said thank you to the gentleman but I needed to hear it from Eric. At first Eric didn't say a word, he just sat and looked at me. A minute or two later I sat down and faced the projection screen, no tears, just a sharp pain in my chest, and a difficult time breathing.
