Part 10
During our travels we came up with a plan to get us to our next destination, the Cayman Islands. The route we took ran us right into a roadblock, we were about 300 yards when we noticed. Too close to turn around but not far enough to get away without being shot at. Out of all the vehicles that we could've had, she picks the Chester the Molester van, that can't go more than 50mph. Steffanie started driving slower and slower in the direction of the roadblock, so we would have more time to load as many clips as we could before holy hell breaks out. Right when we were within 50 yards, shots started, and we did everything we could to return fire; but we were being shot at from all different directions. There's no way of getting out of this going straight ahead, since we aren't aware of where all the shooters are located. Steffanie put the van in reverse and stomped on the gas pedal, taking us out of shooting range. Which in fact gives us a chance to see the shooters attempting to get a better shot.
Rhonda placed the sniper rifle on my side of the van and Cal set up on the side of Steffanie, while the rest of us focused on the men coming our way from the front. Unloading clips faster than Elsey and Reonna can fill them, we were still knocking them down two and three at a time. After over 500 rounds easy, it was quiet on the streets. We each got out one at a time, looking around for extra shooters, then bang. Cal was shot in the leg. Reonna returned fire and put one in his head and two in his chest. Once the coast was clear I threw Cal over my shoulder and headed directly to their Hummers, grabbing guns and ammo on the way.
Elsey started ciphering gas out of another Hummer to make sure we had enough gas to make it to the next gas station. Steffanie started to tend to Cal's gunshot wound that seems to be a threw and threw. Reonna got behind the wheel, Rhonda was keeping lookout, as I was mapping out different ways for us to get to the airstrip, even with more roadblocks such as this one. If I can find back roads we'll take those instead of normal public service roads. It's a gift and curse to be in Upstate New York, but the leverage it gives us to stay off the grid, is a million times better than to be fighting through City streets trying not to be seen.
After twenty minutes we were back on the road but in style this time and we're blessed because we have their communication device. This gave us a huge step up on evading this group of killers, knowing between where we are and where we're headed, I'm sure we'll come in contact with more than just this group.
There wasn't a hiccup in our plan until we got to the airstrip. The airstrip that's been vacated for some time now, I'm guessing about ten years. The upside to this is that we have a plane, it needs work, but a plane nonetheless. Steffanie shared that our illegal little cyber devil Reonna, has a pilot license and has flown as far as Japan for a cover, posing as a pilot. So, we have wings, and a pilot. Now all we need is a master plane mechanic.
"If you can get me a tutorial on how planes operate, I should be able to fix it if there's anything on the internet that'll walk me through it." Rhonda said, as she walks towards me, undressing me with her eyes.
"Reonna, will take care of that. I'm going to look for something that'll help Cal, Eric search for the tools, and Elsey find us something to eat and drink." Steffanie said.
"Yeah, we're in the middle of nowhere but I'm supposed to find a water source and a buffet. Just great!" Elsey replied walking out the door.
Everyone stood in silence for a brief second then off to do the jobs they were ordered. I personally had one of the easiest jobs, I removed two tarp like blankets that revealed all the tools needed. Instead of sitting around doing nothing, I went outside to help Elsey find food.
