Part 20

Part 20

That night I was off and on my way to Coahuila Mexico. It took seventeen hours to get there driving, seventeen hours with only making gas stops. Thank God for making me a man. Flying wasn't an option, thanks to what's in my possession, and that bounty on my head. Anyway, then I had to walk for three hours. There's not many roads out here, and they sure as hell don't lead you where someone is possibly being held captive. I had 23 hours of nonstop movement to think about the different scenarios. All I know is, that I'm not dying alone. I'm taking at least two with me, the only one I truly worry about is Steffanie. She knows everything about me, but it's never too late to change your plan. Unless you're in the thick of things, then it's too late. Come up with a plan and stick with it, there's never a plan B.

My heart is racing, I'm looking around trying to find shadows or moving land. I can't be too sure that there's not someone out there gunning for me. I reached a cave that hasn't been used in years, or ever by the looks of it. I made myself a makeshift broom and got up as much dirt and bugs as I could. Gathered enough branches, with leaves attached to make a semi-soft palette. Tonight I'll sleep and rejuvenate my body and set out at sunrise so I can retrieve my wife, or lose my life.

Odd enough, I slept peacefully under the circumstances. If I'm being setup, I want them to work for the Unicorn File. So, I placed the file behind heavy rocks that I knew for sure a woman can't lift. The only thing I took with me is ammo and four guns. When I got out into the open, I knew that by now if they made a fire it'll be going out, therefore there will be smoke. I climbed to the top of the mountain of where I slept and was able to see smoke coming from the west. I made another bow and cut up some branches for ammo.

The hike was long and put a beating on my feet, I could feel them blistering even with moleskin and two pairs of thick socks. By the time I reached the boundary of where Rhonda was being held, I noticed something that made my heart sink to the pit of my stomach. Hanging from a tree was three people, skinned, but clearly not moving. As the bodies swung around due to the small gust of wind, I was able to see that it was men, not women. I climbed a tree so I can see the entire camping area. There’s thirteen men; Rhonda, Steffanie, Elsey, and Reonna were all tied up to a tree that was on the opposite side of the campsite. I don’t deem the men as being a threat to me but if I don’t move fast enough, they’ll be a threat to the women for sure. No one seems to be designated to watch the women, if I can get Rhonda free I'll have an extra set of eyes to help me knocked these guys off one at a time.

I go around the campsite, making sure I watch my step to insure they don’t see or hear me. I don’t believe these guys are assassins so I could easily talk to them to get them to comply, but where’s the fun in that. The first guy I reach was standing towards a tree taking a piss. I grabbed his jaw and broke his neck without any type of fight. I looked into his face and saw the old man from the airstrip in Shubuta in him, just a younger dirtier version. I gave him $10,000.00 for fuel a plane, not a big huge commercial plane but a private plane that twenty people can fit comfortably; the $10,000.00 wasn’t enough. He wanted more and kidnapped the women, but Cal’s story isn't adding up to how this seems to be playing out. If I feel that they're lying, I’ll kill them all.
