Part 5.

I grabbed the wooden paddle, placed it between my legs, and put on a pair of leather gloves to keep the splinters from digging into my heads. The soles of her feet were already exposed and ready to be battered. At first I take it light on her, giving her just enough pain to understand that everything matters. Everything that she has done and her daughter will do matters. With a little more force I hit the soles of her feet and one burst open. Her screams and cries fell on deaf ears until Reonna came in yelling that Cal and Elsey made it in safely, eliminated the target, and that Steffanie and Rhonda was outside waiting on our departure. I  gave her the okay to start tearing down her station and packing it into the van.

I turned back to Mrs. Cancade and started going in on her feet. I started swinging the paddle as if it were a baseball bat and my objective was to hit a homerun. With every swing blood poured from her feet, with every swing there was cracking sounds coming from her ankles and knees. I wanted to stop and put one in the head but something in me couldn’t resist the thought of stopping. I continued to swing until her legs were noticeably broken and even then, I couldn’t stop. The thought of how my wife was treated during her capture with the Cancade’s family’s foot soldiers, riddled through my core forcing me to come out of character and beat this woman to death by the soles of her feet. Giving her the message that the ground my wife walks on is sacred land and should have been respected. Mrs. Cancade’s eyes filled with tears, face red, and she looks like she is barely holding on but even then, I couldn’t stop.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t know she was being held until you came. I swear I didn’t know, if I would have known I would’ve stopped them from beating her.” Mrs. Cancade said, yelling and gasping between each word.

Then there was a gunshot blast from behind me, blood decorated my right side, from my face to mid-thigh. I looked towards the sound and there was Rhonda standing in the doorway as beautiful as she was when we met.

"We don't have time for this. Reonna said the codes will change within three to five hours, we need to go."

I gathered my tools, made a call for a clean up team, then smashed the cell phone to make sure we couldn't be traced. By the time I reached the van, there was a brand new burner phone waiting for me.

"I got rid of all of our cell phones and told Cal and Elsey to destroy theirs. If we can get the Unicorn File do you know what we can do with that? Our mission has changed, it's now Operation Takeover." Steffanie said with excitement.

"Let's do it!" Rhonda exclaimed.

"In for a penny, in for a pound; I'm in." Reonna said boldly.

"I'll wait until Cal and Elsey weighs in." I said as I cleaned the blood off my skin.

"Eric's in." Rhonda said glaring at me.

"And Cal and Elsey are in as well, trust me." Steffanie said as she drove off.
