Part 20
Since there was nothing here edible, I pulled out two sheets from the linen closet. Piled the sofa cushions against the door and made myself a nice comfy pallet. Laying in here with a dead body and a bag full of electronics is never good situation to get caught in, no matter what. So, I need to make sure that I wake up if someone tries to come in, I don't want to be caught off guard; not like this. Before I shut my eyes, I sent a text to Matt to see how everything was going. I must've dozed off waiting on him to reply but when I woke up, there were twenty texts and thirty missed phone calls telling me to get home quick because there was a problem. Looking at the time it was well after noon, I slept for three hours. It's too soon for me to exit but the smell of the dead body was starting to do a number on my empty stomach. I packed up the sheets, wiped down everything, and kicked the cushions out of the way. Taking a look out the peephole before exiting just to make sure no one was near the door. The coast was clear, so I started walking towards my SUV that I purposely parked near the dumpers, so I didn't look like I was stealing anything if someone saw me and knew I wasn't from the area.
Lowering my hoodie, I walked with an even pace to make sure I didn't look like I was in a rush. Using my key remote, I opened the back hatch so I could place the bag inside. Driving slowly through the streets making an few extra turns to make sure I wasn't being followed. I finally get to our driveway after the circus act I just pulled. Matt is on the porch smoking; all of the windows and the door was closed. The only problem I had with this, Matt was covered in blood standing on the porch in the middle of the day. Leaving the bag in the SUV, I slowly walked up the stairs keeping eye contact asking what happened but he didn't even make the slightest sound. He stood there rocking back and forth, I looked at the ground, and there were a pile of cigarette butts as if he was chain smoking.
"Where were you? You didn't answer your phone? I almost fucking died because of you!"
"How?"
"It's three of them and one of me, that's how?"
"Matt, they're all tied down. There's no way they were able to get out unless you untied them."
He stood there with anger plastered across his face, but once again he stopped talking. For him almost being killed, he looked really good; just like he did when I left him. I asked if they were all dead, he looked at me out of the side of his eyes with his lips turned up. It's possible that he could've locked all the doors with the deadbolts and took the keys; leaving them all locked inside. Without any answers, I unlocked the front door, stepped inside awaiting an ambush of some sort but nothing happened, there was complete silence. Walked towards the basement and one of the guys jumped out at me with a knife. Twisting his arm backwards breaking it as I forced his hand that held the knife into the base of his neck, upward into his brain.
