Part 62
We ended up staying in Italy for a week because there was an issue with our passports, go figure. We received a call saying that we were cleared and flight leaves in two hours. Gathering everything as fast as possible, Dave heads down to clear the street for me before I come out. I tucked away all of my firearms except for the one I carry everywhere and two clips that's authorized for me to carry on the flight. I went down to talk to the lady at the front desk and asked how much would it be for me to rent that room for six months. She gave me a great price, I gave her cash and she provided me with both sets of keys to insure me that the room will not be rented out, but after six months she'll have someone make a key and will resume renting out that room. Fair enough if you ask me.
Boarding our flight I still didn't feel that we were in the clear yet, so I stayed vigilant with the safety of my sidearm off. Dave excused himself and went towards restroom. Maybe about one to two minutes after the occupied sign came up there was a flight attendant standing in the isle with a cell phone in one hand and a bottled water in the other. She tells me that the phone is mine to keep but this is considered my envelope, all the information I need is inside. I took the phone, tucked it away under my right breast.
I drank water and had a few pieces of cheese and crackers with Dave. We quietly spoke and laughed but nothing too obvious. It was my turn to excuse myself, as I was walking back to the restroom the same flight attendant was standing at the end of the isle pointing to a stall that said occupied. She knocked twice, paused, then another seven times. The door opened, I walked in and was greeted by no other than Eric. It's sad to say that I wasn't in the least bit excited to see him but this is what he had to say, "I know you're mad at me, I've earned that but I had to do what I had too, to keep you safe. Unfortunately, keeping you safe was leaving you. I couldn't tell you what was going on because when I got the notice, we had no free time, and because of who we work for there will be times like this. Okay, we have about a minute or two before Dave starts to worry, so I'm going to give you instructions and you need to follow them to the dot. Take your next mark to the cabin, in the fridge is box of granulated sugar, do not use this on your food, use it on the mark's food. You'll know what to do from there. I love you but you have to go. When you come back to this stall, I won't be here." Eric kisses me on my forehead and opened the door for me.
I kept up the facade the duration of our flight. We have a layover in LA for four hours. Dave went to grab us something to eat while I made a visit to the ladies' room. Once in the stall I pulled the cell phone out of my brassiere, turned it on, and the back wallpaper was a picture of Eric and I on our wedding night. Without a care, I went into the notes and there's where I found my next mark, Dave. Within the note it states that Eric was never a target but Dave has been working for a radical Muslim group; giving them intel on our operations. Means of death, torture.
