Part 54

Part 54

Pulling me back in the basement ripping us from the other two. Unfortunately, I don’t trust him no matter how good he looks. Dragging me towards the basement doors he yelled out, “35, 10, 15.” I have no clue what that means but he cleared the outside and told me to run through the back way and keep my eyes open. He said that he would catch up to me before I reached the end of the block. Now this I had to see. My gun was loaded and ready to fire if needed, I’m looking for shadows that are out of sync with what’s it projecting off of, just to make sure I wasn’t ambushed on my way. I get to the corner, refusing to look back I keep moving. As I was running, I used my free hand to dig into my back pocket. There was something there that I didn’t feel until now. I dipped into an alley between two very large dumpsters, pulled out what was in my back pocket and it was a note and map from Eric. The first thing I saw was to stay out of dark places and always stay on the main road where there’s a large amount of people. The only problem I have with that is, I have no clue where that is. This is the first time in a foreign place and what do I do before I learn the area, get married and have hours on hours of hot sex with my man. Well, look where that got me, never again. I rummaged through my bag and found a map. I pulled it out to see the names of the streets in case any of them sound familiar to me through conversations with other people. I was two miles from Avenue du Maine, which is a street that's well lit and generally have a nice amount of people on that strip, because of the stores.

I get about another two blocks away then hear an explosion. My heart was pounding because I didn't know if Eric made it out safe. I stood there stuck, wanting to go back but knowing I'm suppose to move forward. Thoughts running through my mind I stand in the middle of the block of houses pacing back in forth battling with myself. When I turned to go towards the safe house owned by Eric, I heard a deep voice but it didn't sound like Eric. When I turned back  and saw the stature of the person I knew it wasn't Jerome or Dave either. I picked up the pace but still not running at top speed, I have too far to travel to tire myself out in the beginning of my journey. I turned back to see how close he was but there was no one there. Picking up the pace because I didn't know if there's  a short cut that leads into the road I'm on. Starting to panic a little I slow down and eventually come to a halt. Looking around, there wasn't a place I could go into to hide out for a few minutes so I can find alternative routes to get to Avenue du Maine. Surveying the area my eye focuses on an open apartment door. I run across the street looking in every direction to make sure no one's following me. Once I knew I was clear I took a mad dash to the entrance and ran straight for the roof, no stopping to check out anything. Stuffing the door lock to make sure I didn't lock myself out on the roof top and sitting right next to wall that covers the stairs so I can hear if someone comes up.

Spending all but 20 minutes mapping out different routes I notice that the rooftops are connecting as far as I could see. What better and safer way to travel than above the enemy? Walking close to the center of the roofs, I make my way to the end of the first two blocks without having to get on the street to get across. Since there were no cross streets on this side, there wasn't a space between the houses.  Once I get to the last house I looked down to see who was on the street. Two of the guys that was sitting on the sofa stood right beneath me on the corner. I checked the door to make sure I could get downstairs to the street but since these two are just sitting ducks, I may as well knock them out of the battle now.
